The following is a sample Charismatic Prayer service. (1)

Introduction

God come to my assistance, Lord make haste to help me.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end, Alleluia.


Invitation to the Holy Spirit

Come Holy Spirit, and fill the hearts of your faithful,
and kindle in them the fire of Your Divine Love.
Send forth Your Spirit and they shall be created,
and You shall renew the face of the earth.



Sing Praise to the Lord

Sing 3 or 4 (or more, if desired) praise and worship songs of your choice.


Prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel

Saint Michael the Archangel,
Defend us in battle
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil;
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
And do you, O Prince of the heavenly host,
By the power of God, thrust into hell
Satan and all evil spirits
Who wander through the world
For the ruin of souls, Amen.


Psalms and Canticles

Antiphon 1:
He is my stronghold and my deliverer, in him I take refuge.

Psalm 144 , (1)
  Blessed be the LORD, my rock,
who trains my hands for war,
and my fingers for battle;

  My rock and my fortress,
my stronghold and my deliverer,
my shield and he in whom I take refuge,
who subdues the peoples under him.

  O LORD, what is man that thou dost regard him,
or the son of man that thou dost think of him?
Man is like a breath, his days are like a passing shadow.

  Bow thy heavens, O LORD, and come down!
Touch the mountains that they smoke!
Flash forth the lightning and scatter them,
send out thy arrows and rout them!

  Stretch forth thy hand from on high,
rescue me and deliver me from the many waters,
from the hand of aliens,
whose mouths speak lies,
and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.

Antiphon 2: Happy the people whose God is the LORD!

Psalm 144 , (2)
  I will sing a new song to thee, O God;
upon a ten-stringed harp I will play to thee,
who givest victory to kings,
who rescuest David thy servant.

  Rescue me from the cruel sword,
and deliver me from the hand of aliens,
whose mouths speak lies,
and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood.

  May our sons in their youth
be like plants full grown,
our daughters like corner pillars
cut for the structure of a palace;

  May our garners be full,
providing all manner of store;
may our sheep bring forth thousands
and ten thousands in our fields;

  May our cattle be heavy with young,
suffering no mischance or failure in bearing;
may there be no cry of distress in our streets!

  Happy the people to whom such blessings fall!

Canticle - Revelation 11:17-18; 12:10b-12a
 
We give thanks to thee, Lord God Almighty,
who art and who wast,
that thou hast taken thy great power
and begun to reign.

  The nations raged, but thy wrath came,
and the time for the dead to be judged, for rewarding thy servants, the prophets and saints,
and those who fear thy name, both small and great,
and for destroying the destroyers of the earth.

  Now the salvation and the power
and the kingdom of our God
and the authority of his Christ have come,
for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down,
who accuses them day and night before our God.

  And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb
and by the word of their testimony,
for they loved not their lives even unto death.

Reading: Colossians 1:21-23
  And you, who once were estranged and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and irreproachable before him, provided that you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which has been preached to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister.

Canticle of Mary

Antiphon:
If you hunger for holiness, God will satisfy your longing, good measure, and flowing over.

My soul magnifies the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden.

For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed;
for he who is mighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his name.

And his mercy is on those who fear him from generation to generation.

He has shown strength with his arm,
he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts,

he has put down the mighty from their thrones,
and exalted those of low degree;

he has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent empty away.

He has helped his servant Israel,
in remembrance of his mercy,
as he spoke to our fathers,

Our Father, who art in Heaven,

And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Closing Prayer
Lord,
hear the Vesper prayers we bring before you;
help us to walk daily in the footsteps of Jesus
so that we may produce an abundant harvest of goodness in patience and in faith.

We ask this through Our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit,
One God, for ever and ever.

Dismissal
May the Lord bless us, protect us from all evil, and bring us to everlasting life. Amen.


(1) Some people may be concerned that Liturgies should not be combined with Charismatic worship. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that you consult your Parish Priest before organizing such a service.
